Letters you should write

You should copy the letters below and send them by snail mail or FAX to your Federal Representative and Senators. They are much more likely to respond to a real letter as opposed to E-mail. Thanks, Lee

U.S. Representative Roscoe G. Bartlett wrote a letter to DOT Inspector General Mead reporting that Dr. Baker of the NHTSA testified illegally at a legislative committee meeting in Maryland.

The DOT Inspector General conducted an 'investigation' and found that Dr. Baker did nothing wrong. We can attack the root of some of our problems by bringing this NHTSA employee to justice.

Please join in this effort by sending the letter listed below to your Federal Representative and Senators and demand justice.

In preparation for a Freedom of Information Act request, please tell me at no charge, the cost of getting copies of the following three items from you:

1. The Raeder/Negri study that focused on the effects of the helmet law for motorcyclists in New York State before and after the implementation of their state helmet law.

2. The letter written by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) asking the NHTSA to explain the fact that there was "a increase from just under 6% to close to 38% of all fatalities resulting from broken neck injuries..." in New York state after the implementation of the state helmet law.
